Verizon is reportedly blocking employee vacations between September 18th-22nd, reports 9to5Mac. Those dates coincide with the rumored September 20th release date for the iPhone 5S.
As Apple’s September 10th iPhone unveiling approaches, we’ve heard that Verizon Wireless is blocking its retail employees from requesting vacations between Wednesday, September 18th and Sunday, September 22nd. Based on Apple historically shipping new versions of the iPhone about a week and half following the unveiling, it would make sense for the new iPhones to arrive for customers on Friday, September 20th.

Apple is widely expected to unveil the new iPhone 5S at a September 10th event thus we would recommend holding off on any purchases until then.

A serious bug has been uncovered in Apple's CoreText layout engine, which is responsible for laying out text in applications which make use of the Cocoa framework on OS X and iOS systems. The bug causes any app relying on CoreText to crash when a specific string of Arabic characters is displayed, meaning just the simple act of viewing a tweet or receiving an instant message is enough to trigger the crash. With apps like messaging or email clients, the problem is more severe, as the app may continue to crash repeatedly if it attempts to display previous message history or previews of email content.

IDC has slightly lowered its tablet forecast for 2013 and beyond due to growing competition from larger smartphones and the prospect of new categories such as wearable devices.
The company now expects worldwide tablet shipments to reach 227.4 million units in 2013, down from a previous forecast of 229.3 million but still 57.7% above 2012 shipments. Despite the slight reduction for this year, the market will continue to grow at a rapid pace and by 2017 IDC expects worldwide shipments to be nearly 407 million units. The company also adjusted its regional outlook, with maturing markets such as the U.S. now expected to cede share more rapidly to emerging markets such as Asia/Pacific.

T-Mobile is reportedly planning employee vacation blackout dates that align with rumored iPhone 5S release dates.
I’m hearing whispers T-Mobile is planning blackout dates between September 20th and 22nd. Like all good rumors, we should take this with the standard “subject to change” warning but my sources suggest this could be iPhone related.
Previous reports pinpointed September 20th for the arrival the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in Japan and Greece; however, it was thought that Apple would launch the iPhone even earlier in North America, perhaps on September 13th.

Some of Apple's top executives are headed to Russia this week to discuss how it sells its devices in the country.
Although Apple has yet to confirm what iPhone handsets it will launch next, the meetings are a sign of how Apple may be preparing to launch new, possibly cheaper devices, to revisit a market that has seen demand for its products, but also one where it has faced challenges working with carriers, the presence of a crazily-priced grey market and, according to eager distributors, short supply issues that do not meet demand.
