Japan Display Inc is in talks with Apple to build a plant that would supply the company with screens for its next generation devices.
It wants Apple to invest in the project which would likely make it the primary supplier of the displays for the iPhone.
Japan Display wants Apple to shoulder much of the expected 200 billion yen ($1.7 billion) investment in the plant, which aims to be in operation next year, the source said on condition of anonymity as the talks remain confidential.
