How To Reset Mac's PRAM in OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Sometimes your Mac's parameter RAM (PRAM) becomes scrambled and needs to be reset. This can cause startup problems for your Mac. This small piece of memory isn’t erased or forgotten when you shut down your Mac.

A small amount of your computer’s memory, called “parameter random-access memory” or PRAM, stores certain settings in a location that OS X can access quickly. The particular settings that are stored depend on your type of Mac and the types of devices connected to it. The settings include your designated startup disk, display resolution, speaker volume, and other information.

How to create Screenshot (print screen) in OS X 10.10 Yosemite

What is known as “Print Screen” in the Windows world is called screen captures or screenshots in Mac OS X.
When windows user get infront of mac and ask you: “Why is there no Print Screen button for Mac?”, show him this HowTo!

There is no ‘Print Screen’ button on a Mac keyboard, instead of hitting a “Print Screen” button, you’ll hit one of several keyboard combination shortcuts to perform a specific action, depending on the exact screen capture action you want taken. This is both easier and much more powerful, given that there are ultimately six unique options to perform variations of the screen print.

You can use any of these commands to take screenshots directly in Mac OS X Finder or any running applications:

How to Verify a Secure Connection to iCloud.com in Safari, Chrome and Firefox

Following reports that Chinese authorities are using a 'man-in-the-middle attack' to gather usernames and passwords from iCloud users.

Apple has posted a support document with instructions on verifying a secure connection to the iCloud website.

Apple is deeply committed to protecting our customers’ privacy and security. We’re aware of intermittent organized network attacks using insecure certificates to obtain user information, and we take this very seriously. These attacks don't compromise iCloud servers, and they don't impact iCloud sign in on iOS devices or Macs running OS X Yosemite using the Safari browser.

The iCloud website is protected with a digital certificate. If users get an invalid certificate warning in their browser while visiting www.icloud.com, they should pay attention to the warning and not proceed. Users should never enter their Apple ID or password into a website that presents a certificate warning. To verify that they are connected to the authentic iCloud website, users can check the contents of the digital certificate as shown below for Safari, Chrome, and Firefox—each of which provides both certificate information and warnings.

Safari
When you're connected to the authentic iCloud website in Safari, you'll see a green lock icon in the toolbar next to Apple Inc. Choose the lock icon to see a message that says "Safari is using an encrypted connection to www.icloud.com." This indicates that the connection is secure and you can sign in normally.

How to Edit Hosts file in Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

The hosts file is used by your computer to map hostnames to IP addresses.

By adding or removing lines to your hosts file you can change where certain domains will point when you access them in a browser or using other software. You can block certain hosts names, like ad-serving/malicious hosts, or used for web development purposes, i.e. to redirect domains to local addresses.

This is an important file and one that is under the computer administrator’s control, so you’ll need an account with full privileges to make any changes.

Making a backup of the hosts file can be a good idea if you plan on making significant changes or just want to play around with modifications and see what happens.

Step 1: Launch Terminal, found in /Applications/Utilities/ or launched through Spotlight
