Snapchat today was updated with a much-requested feature -- the ability to take a snap while playing music and other audio from your phone.
Enjoy fast and fun mobile conversation! Snap a photo or a video, add a caption, and send it to a friend. They’ll view it, laugh, and then the Snap disappears from the screen – unless they take a screenshot!

You can also add a Snap to your Story with one tap to share your day with all of your friends.

The best conversations happen when both friends are present, so we’ll let you know if your friend is Here in your Chat so that you can give each other your full attention. And if you're both Here, simply press and hold to share live video - and Chat face-to-face!

Apple is World's Second Most Innovative Company

Apple is the second most innovative company in the world, according Fast Company's 2015 rankings.
Apple was #14 in the Fast Company's 2014 rankings, while Google placed first. Fast Company attributes Apple's success in 2014 to its different software refinements that make its existing hardware more powerful. Both iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite brought many features to both developers and consumers.
It’s too early to judge the long-term impact of all these features, given that they depend on what other companies do with them. Still, they’re evidence that Tim Cook’s Apple is developing its own character—one deeply influenced by Steve Jobs, but not slavishly so. Jobs, after all, was fond of boasting that Apple was the only outfit in the tech industry that was solely responsible for "the whole widget"—hardware, software, and services, all integrated into a seamless experience. With iOS 8, Apple is loosening its control over future widgets in ways that its control-freak cofounder might have rejected. But they’re putting Apple even more boldly at the center of "the whole widget" of our technology-powered lives.
Fast Company named Warby Parker, the online eyeglasses website, the most innovative company in their 2015 rankings.

FCC-Mandated Cellphone Unlocking Requirement Deadline is Today

The deadline for carriers to comply with the CTIA's consumer code regarding cellphone unlocking has arrived.
In December 2013, thanks to pressure from the FCC, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon Wireless agreed to adopt a voluntary set of six principles for unlocking of consumers’ mobile phones and tablets.

Starting today, in accordance with that agreement, the carriers must unlock devices for both postpaid and prepaid customers.

Apple Forcing Accessory Makers Into Agreements That Ban the Use of Leaked Designs

Apple is forcing third party accessory makers into signing agreements that prevent them from seeking information about future Apple devices.
The company is threatening to pull their products from the Apple Store if they don't comply.

On one hand, the agreement dangled the loss of “future business opportunities that Apple and/or its affiliates may present to you” as a potential consequence of violating or not signing the agreement. On the other hand, signing and following it could lead to months-long delays in making accessories like cases available, during the time of year when those cases were most needed and demanded by customers.

Apple Has Stopped Signing iOS 8.1.2

Apple has stopped signing iOS 8.1.2 meaning that it is no longer possible to restore to the firmware version to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Unfortunately, Apple blocked the exploits used to jailbreak with the release of the current iOS 8.1.3 firmware. If you are on iOS 8.1.2 take extra care not to accidentally update your device. If you haven't jailbroken yet, you can still use TaiG or PP to jailbreak.

iOS 9 to Put 'Huge' Focus on Stability and Performance Optimization

Apple is putting a 'huge' focus on stability and performance optimization for iOS 9.
For 2015, iOS 9, which is codenamed Monarch, is going to include a collection of under-the-hood improvements. Sources tell us that iOS 9 engineers are putting a “huge” focus on fixing bugs, maintaining stability, and boosting performance for the new operating system, rather than solely focusing on delivering major new feature additions. Apple will also continue to make efforts to keep the size of the OS and updates manageable, especially for the many millions of iOS device owners with 16GB devices.
